EI Icon Guidelines

for Using the EI Icons

THESE EXPEDIA ICON GUIDELINES (“Guidelines”) govern your use of any EI icons (“EI Icons”) to establish links from your Associate Site to Expedia in conjunction with the Expedia, Inc. Associate Program (“Program”).  As used in these Guidelines, “you” means (and “your” refers to) the approved participant in the Program, “we” means (and “us”, our” and “ours” refer to) Expedia, Inc.  Also as used in these Guidelines, “Associate Site” means your web site and any successor web site once you have been accepted into the Program.

You may only use the EI Icons if we have approved your enrollment in the Program.  If you have any questions whether you have or have not been approved to participate in the Program, please contact us at eap@expedia.com BEFORE you use the EI Icons in any way.

The following guidelines apply to your use of any EI Icons on your Associate Site:

.

1.        Except as we may authorize elsewhere, you may use only the EI Icons in accordance with the Expedia, Inc. Associate Program Agreement (“Agreement”) and these Guidelines, which may be modified or replaced by us from time to time, and only in connection with Expedia-related matter.

2.        EI Icons gifs includes certain words, such as “Visit Expedia.com”, describing the significance of the EI Icons on the Associate Site (i.e., EI Icons contain a Link to Expedia or the Co-Branded Pages (as defined in the Agreement), they not an endorsement of the Associate Site).  You may not remove or alter this or any other element of the EI Icons.  The EI Icons must always be an active link to http://www.Expedia.com/.

3.        In addition to the EI Icons, you may use the Expedia branding, or “Look and Feel” of Expedia only in connection with Expedia-related content and services.  In other words, the elements of Expedia’s branding, e.g., the Expedia “Look and Feel,” including but not limited to Expedia Blue and Yellow, Expedia web page layout, organization, design, user interface etc, cannot be used with any content that has no relationship to Expedia or with any services that are not being provided by Expedia.

4.        EI Icons may be used only on the Associate Site that is identified in the Agreement, and such Associate Site must make accurate references to us or our products or services.  The EI Icons must be grouped together on the same page, however, your logos, trademarks, trade names and similar identifying material must appear clearly at the top of the page, and must appear at least as prominent as any EI Icon present on the page.  You may not display the “Look and Feel” of Expedia or any EI Icon in any manner that implies sponsorship, endorsement, or license by us.

5.        An EI Icon must appear by itself, with a minimum spacing (the height of the EI Icon) between each side of the EI Icon and other graphic or textual elements on the Associate Site.  An EI Icon may not be used as a feature or design element of your’s or any third party’s logo.

6.        You may not alter an EI Icon in any manner, including size, proportions, colors, elements, etc., or animate, morph or otherwise distort its perspective or two-dimensional appearance.

7.        You may not use an EI Icon on any site that disparages us or our products or services, infringes any of our intellectual property or other rights, or violates any state, federal or international law.

8.        These guidelines do not grant a license or any other right in our logos, trademarks, trade dress or branding.  We reserve the right in our sole discretion to terminate or modify permission to use an EI Icon at any time.  We reserve the right to take action against any use that does not conform to these guidelines, infringes any of our intellectual property or other rights, or violates other applicable law.

The IE Icons .gif files and approved configurations for the use of the EI Icons are made available at www.reporting.net.
