1-Day Itinerary
Key sights in Arches National Park are easily reached by paved roads and relatively short hikes. Meander along the 48-mile, roundtrip park road, stopping frequently at overlooks like Delicate Arch Viewpoint.
More Time?
- Reserve a spot on a ranger-led hike into Fiery Furnace. This confusing labyrinth of narrow sandstone passageways makes for a moderately strenuous, extremely engaging hike.
- Experienced hikers can’t miss Acadia Park’s 3-mile loop to/from Delicate Arch. You’ll gain 500 feet in elevation across open, unshaded slickrock to reach the base of the iconic arch. Bring 1 quart of water per person!
- Plan a picnic at either Balanced Rock or the Devils Garden Loop. Both boast awe-inspiring views as well as picnic tables.
Know Before You Go
- From June through September, daytime temperatures in Arches National Park may exceed 100º F. Winter temperatures often drop below 32º F.
- Plan ahead! Bring drinking waterlots of it.
