Location

The 124,306-acre Zion National Park is secreted away in the southwest corner of Utah, just 150 miles from Vegas.

Flora & Fauna

Expect sparse vegetation—lots of cacti and pinyon pines—with birds galore and as well as numerous reptiles.

Did You Know?

Zion Park is full of “hanging valleys,” where canyons of differing depths meet—often resulting in a waterfall.

1-Day Itinerary

  • Take the shuttle along the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. This 90-minute ride leaves from the visitor’s center and allows you to see some of the park’s most beautiful sights. Plan ahead and make reservations for a ranger-led drive!
  • Zion National Park is known for its trails. If you’re short on time, hike the .5-miles to the Weeping Rock.

More Time?

  • Step off the shuttle at the Temple of Sinawava—then step onto the Riverside Walk. Follow the Virgin River on a 2-mile hike through a narrow canyon, you can even wade a little!
  • Bicycle down the car-free—and completely paved—Pa’rus Trail.
  • Experienced climbers should look into canyoneering, this strenuous alternative involved traversing narrow canyons with rappelling equipment.
  • Sign-up for a ranger-led activity at the Zion National Park’s visitor’s center. You’ll choose from talks on the ecosystem to guided hikes along popular trails.

Know Before You Go

  • Use the buddy system when hiking. Never go alone!
  • A shuttle system operates throughout Zion National Park, easily transporting you to its most popular areas, including Zion Canyon Scenic Drive and the visitor’s center.
